Hola a todos:
Aquí os dejo el archivo PDF con  tareas de refuerzo de los temas que hemos visto este curso.

Lo más recomendable es descargarlo, imprimirlo y contestar a mano las preguntas. Si no, se puede copiar el título del tema y número de pregunta en el cuaderno. 

Los que han aprobado pueden hacer  las actividades desde ahora y  durante el verano, voluntariamente. Estas actividades son especialmente importantes para los que han aprobado con un 5. Escribiré un mail específicamente a aquellos que necesitan hacerlas para suplir las carencias de este curso debido a la situación de alarma por el COVID. Sé que muchos habéis copiado las tareas de otros compañeros. Sois vosotros los que salís perdiendo, porque notaréis estas deficiencias de conocimiento en vuestro futuro, académico y/o en la vida real... Haced un poco de reflexión sobre esto, por favor. 

Los que han suspendido deberán tener hechas como mínimo las tareas de los 2 primeros temas para la clase de repaso del martes 9 a las 10 de la mañana. Las clases de repaso ON LINE de esta semana serán martes y jueves de 10 a 11.  Mandaré enlace y contraseña por mail 10 minutos antes de la sesión. 

Mandé un mail con información sobre recuperación y clases de repaso, por favor los que no hayan contestado que contesten cuanto antes.

Todos hemos hecho lo que hemos podido en estas especiales circunstancias y solo espero, como ya os dije a algunos, que hayáis aprendido más sobre el funcionamiento de vuestro cuerpo y cómo cuidarlo y prevenir enfermedades, que es el principal objetivo de la asignatura  este año.

SURVEY AND INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT RETAKE EXAMS

Hello everyone!:
I need you to answer to this short survey to assess our Biology & Geology classes before Tuesday the 9th of June. This is the link:

You will have to wait until Monday the 8th to know your marks, I can't tell you by email, one at a time. So please, don't ask. If you have fail the subject you will have to do the retake exam and I will contact you individually by email before 9th fo June to give you instructions.

Review classes ON LINE for preparing the RETAKE EXAM  will start from Tuesday the 9th. 

However, it would be advisable for some people to do some reinforcement activities during summer, due to the special situation during this term and the fact that many of you have copied the activities from other students.... 

 If that is your case, I  will contact you to tell you the reinforcement activities you can do. All the reinforcement activities will be uploaded to the blog on Monday the 8th.

I hope you have learnt useful things about the systems in your body and how to prevent diseases and have healthier habits. This is the main aim of the subject.

CÓMO HACER FOTOS DE LAS TAREAS CORRECTAMENTE

A ver si esto os ayuda, porque me estoy volviendo loca para poder leer y organizar las tareas que me mandáis por fotos...Y por favor, si podéis enviar UN SOLO ARCHIVO EN PDF con todas las páginas en orden y derechas. Para nombrar el archivo me ayudaría infinito que pongáis: "curso. Nombre e incial del primer apellido. Nombre de la tarea!. ejemplo: "3A.AnaG. Sight practical activities"
 Si no tenéis escáner se puede hacer con una app gratuita del móvil llamada " image to PDF Converter". Gracias por vuestra colaboración.
PD: acordaos de que vuestros padres pongan comentario en la entrada anterior sobre criterios de calificación.

NUEVOS CRITERIOS DE CALIFICACIÓN

Tras muchos días de deliberación, y teniendo en cuenta las instrucciones de la Comunidad de Madrid sobre la evaluación del tercer trimestre,  en el Departamento de Biología y Geología hemos decidido cambiar los criterios de calificación para 3º de ESO de la siguiente manera:

40% primera evaluación, 40% segunda evaluación y 20% tercera evaluación.

Las actividades de recuperación de la primera y/o segunda evaluación serán calificadas como Apto o no apto.

Para la recuperación ordinaria (la de todo el curso, en el caso de los que tengan la materia entera suspensa), el alumnado deberá realizar una prueba  presencial, si fuera posible. (se informará de los detalles y de quiénes tienen que hacerlo más adelante) el alumnado deberá realizar una prueba presencial, si fuera posible.

Se descontará puntuación si se detecta que las actividades han sido copiadas.

3. As a result, what are the difficulties of vision in a person with myopia?
4. Where does the image  form in a person with hypermetropia?
5. What are the main causes for this to occur?
6. As a result, what are the difficulties of vision in a person with  hypermetropia?
7. What happens in the eye of a person that suffers from astigmatism?
8. Why does this happen?
9. How does a person with astigmatism see objects?

NEW TASKS FOR 24TH OF APRIL

TASK 1. Read point 2 in the Presentation unit 6. Receptors and effectors (slides 17 to 20). Then watch this video about VISION. Finally, complete this EYE WORKSHEET and send it by email. (questions 31 to 34 are not needed but you need to answer quesions  in the second page of the file.

TASK 2. Look through your window for 10 minutes and note down on a paper how many people, dogs, birds and vehicles  you can see during those 10 minutes. Try to calculate aprocimately how far is the farest living thig or object you can see and how close is the closest one (in meters). Send a picture of your notes by email with the worksheet. 

TASK 3. This is the presentation you have to use for studying Nervous  System, you can also combine it with the text book, but the presentation is better. Nervous System Presentation

(Review of the endocrine system after 24th of April) After revising the contents of the nervous system presentation, play this KAHOOT (PIN) 

Option 1. If you are using MOBILE PHONE, donwload the KAHOOT APP, click on the symbol down the screen where it says " enter PIN" and wirte the number you can see in the link above ⇧ 

Then, write a NICKNAME. It has to be: NAME SURNAME AND CLASS, (Like we did in the videoconference) Example: MaríaGarcía3A. This is important for me to identify who has played the game.  You can play many people at the same time (more fun) or alone.

ACTIVIDADES DE RECUPERACIÓN Y TEMAS TRATADOS EN LA VIDEOCONFERENCIA HOY

For those who couldn't attend the videoconference today this are the main topics covered:
A FECHA DE HOY, Y A LA ESPERA DE QUE SE FIRMEN OFICIALMENTE INSTRUCCIONES MÁS PRECISAS:

     a)     NO HAY APROBADO GENERAL. Se calculará la nota final con las notas que ya tenemos y con lo que hagamos este trimestre. Seguiremos trabajando como hasta ahora.

      b)      Para los que tienen que recuperar la segunda evaluación: DE MOMENTO se deberán hacer ACTIVIDADES DE RECUPERACIÓN, descargar:

      Digestive and respiratory systems. RETAKE ACTIVITIES.

      Además ya os mandé antes de la suspensión de las clases, copiar las preguntas de los dos jeopardy games sobre las unidades de digestivo, respiratorio, circulatorio y excretor. Teníais que responderlas sin mirar y luego corregirlas con boli rojo con las soluciones del jeopardy. Buscadlas, porque deberíais tenerlas ya hechas,  y me mandáis foto por mail junto con los dos archivos anteriores respondidos. FECHA LÍMITE 30 DE ABRIL.

      c)       El CUESTIONARIO GOOGLE lo voy a contar otra actividad de clase, con positivo o negativo, sin nota, porque no es realista (sin tiempo límite, pudiendo mirar apuntes o buscar en internet, y con fallos en la corrección automática por escribir de distinta forma la palabra). DE MOMENTO no hay fecha de examen del tema 5. Ya os avisaré.

      d) Os recuerdo, aunque ya lo expliqué en otro post, que los que querías podéis subscribiros al blog para recibir las notificaciones de las entradas que subo. Y que las tareas se mandan por mail, pero las dudas sobre las tareas, a no ser que sea algo muy personal, se hacen en los comentarios del post  donde se publica dicha tarea.

WELCOME AGAIN! TASKS 14-24TH OF APRIL

Hello guys! I hope you had a great holiday, although we know this time has been strange...

Here are the tasks for the following days.

1. Read sildes 1 to 16 in this presentation UNIT 6. RECEPTORS AND EFFECTORS PRESENTATION

2. Copy in your notebook the c-map on slides 4 and 5 and the table about receptors in slide 16. Send a picture of it by email before Thusrday at 11:00. Note down your doubts.

3. Check the blog tomorrow to see the instructions to join to our ON LINE CLASS on THURSDAY. (It will be probably by zoom, but you will have to do some things to improve the security of the website, I will tell you tomorrow).

3º A will join at 10:00 am, 3ºB and 3ºC ant 11:00

 

In this on line class I will:

- ask you some questions about the presentation to know if you understand, and you can ask doubts.

- I will tell you more activities to do  for the following week (such as some games to review the previous unit that Paul and Rhonda are preapring), and

- I hope I can give you definitive instructions about assesment and retake exams.

WHAT TO DO DURING EASTER FOR ENTRETAINING AND LEARNING

Don't worry, no homework for Easter, but as we still have to stay at home here you have some suggestions to do these days. It is voluntary, but I would really appreciate if you write a comment in this post telling me your opinion or which one did you like the most. I will count it as a possitive actitud in the subject. These are your options:

- Listen to this radio podcast in Spanish: Estrategias psicológicas para superar la cuarentena (first half of the program is the most interesting). You can also listen or download the podcast through the app iVox in your mobile phone.

- Watch this video about mirror neurons and how emotions are contagious. A Spanish psicologyst that explains it in 6 minutes. Neuronas espejo y empatía: Así se contagian las emociones

- Watch this documentary Inside the human body:  Michael Mosley shows how existence is a struggle and how, minute by minute, from your first breath to your last, your body performs countless small miracles to keep you alive.

- Read some of these books we suggest formt he biology deparment (you may download them in the internet or by them in amazon..) Libros de lectura para 3º de ESO Remember if you deliver a summary in English (1 page) and a paragraph with your own opinion about the book you can get  0,5 points (maximum) as long as you have a minum mark of 5 in the term.


Finally, some advise for everyone (based on scientific evidence):

- Eat healthy: specially fruits and vegetables hich in vitamin C (strawberry, kiwi, orange, tangerine...) and food high in vitamin D (specially eggs and "blue fish", like tuna, salmon or sardines), all of them good for your inmunitary system.

- Practice physical exercise at home (not moving enough could lead to decreasing of your muscular mass and gaining weight, and it can also help your brain developement and psicological health.

- Look into the distance will prevent myopia.

- Dance, jump, sing, laugh, hug your relatives if you can, it will help you to cheer up. YOU CAN'T CAN BE SAD IF YOU ARE JUMPING OR DANCING!

QUESTIONS ENDOCRINE AND NERVOUS SYSTEM

Hola a todos! Lo prometido es deuda, aquí os dejo el CUESTIONARIO que debéis responder sobre las presentaciones de enfermedades del sistema endocrino y nervioso incluido el vídeo de la diabetes que os colgué. Es tipo test y respuestas cortas, solo tenéis que darle a enviar al final del cuestionario y yo recibiré vuestras respuestas y calificaciones. También veréis vuestra calificación al terminar. OJO en las respuestas cortas escribid bien y sin faltas, si no no lo cuenta.
Debéis contestarlo antes del jueves día 2, os dejo un día más de margen por si acaso veis esto tarde (es decir fecha tope el viernes 3)

ON TUESDAY I will upolad some questions you will have to answer through a Google form. You will obtain your mark directly,  I will recieve it without you send me an email and I will be able to see all your answers. But I insist,  check the blog ON TUESDAY. The contents about diseases in this unit don't appear in unit 5 but they will be part of the exam. When and how would we do the exam ? Who knows... But we will do something...

Homework for Wednesday, the 18th and PODCAST CORONAVIRUS

ACLARACIÓN SOBRE ESTA TAREA:
No tenéis que solicitar acceso para editar el archivo. Al estar en Drive, si pedís acceso para editar cambiaríais el archivo que yo tengo guardado, además me llevaría mucho tiempo dar acceso a cada uno de los 75 alumnos de 3º que tengo. Tenéis que darle a la flechita de DOWNOLAD, responder la ficha en vuestro ordenador y luego guardarla con vuestro nombre y curso para enviarla a mi mail. La otra opción es imprimirla, escribirla a mano y luego mandar foto. O simplemente poner el número de la pregunta a mano y la respuesta, y luego mandar foto. No caigáis en el error de copiaros las actividades unos a otros, como se hizo en alguna práctica de laboratorio... No merece la pena y además terminamos dándonos cuenta, y al final eso baja nota.

Read pages 94 and 95 in the text book and complete the worksheet about "The brain and its functions". For those who haven't got the photocpy in paper,  download it here.

The file is a word document, so you can write on it directly and save the file with the title " Brain. your name and class". If you have the photocopy, just write on it and take a picture to send it as an image to my email.

CLARIFICATION ABOUT HOMUNUCULUS

For those who were in Germany, you don't need to know many things about what is an homunculus to do the lab pracatice, because you just have to follow the instructions in Spanish, and I didn't expalin very much in class about it. Some students have told Verónica they don't know how to do this activity but I don't know what is exactly the doubt. Please, you can ask any doubt about the proposed activities writing a comentary below the post of the blog, so if many of you have the same doubt I can answer just once. 

If the doubt is how to make the card, you just have to cut the  in the link named " download the shape of the card here", then, you have to glue that piece of paper on a plastic card (old DNI, for example) or the cover if an old notebook or the last year agenda, something harder than a cardboard, something made up with plastic, and finally, cut the shape to obtain the different pointed triangles that you will use for producing the sensations.

Moreover, you can see this video  that explains what an homunculus is. I hope you understand it better now.
